About the Women at Work Skillnet
The key outcomes of the Women at Work Skillnet are:
To develop a targeted and integrated training strategy to enable people in vulnerable employments to enhance and safeguard their employment prospects
To develop co-operation and networking amongst trade unions to meet the training and development needs of workers in vulnerable employments in co-ordinated and innovative ways
To gain accreditation for some of the training delivered as a means of developing improved career pathways for the target group through national recognition of their skills and experience
To work with a number of large scale employers with significantly female workforces to pilot up-skilling initiatives in the workplace
To reflect a more diverse workforce through maximising participation from groups not normally represented in workplace relations such as partnership and union processes
To enhance the skills and knowledge of a core group of trade union officials and activists in order to better meet the learning needs of women in vulnerable employments
To roll-out the training plan and to evaluate its effectiveness and impact in a way that shows return on investment and best practice in training and development
